impact case

Young People who want to live in a housing cooperative (woon cooperatie) struggle with financing opportunities. This innovative financial loan gives them the opportunity to get financial means so that monthly costs become lower, and gives them service from a to b to start a housing cooperative. Cooperative living ensures that people can pay affordable and fair rent-prices, have joint responsibility and creates social cohesion in the neighborhood, which has a direct positive effect on the well-being of our target group.

Cooperations ensure affordable housing, joint responsibility about the houses and neighborhood, increased social cohesion, which has a direct positive effect on the well-being of our target group

In Dutch society we currently see many issues, like the inaccessibility of the housing market, high prices and increasing individualization. People are unable to enter the housing market, to save money, and feel increased pressure on their well-being. As a countermovement, people, but also municipalities increasingly focus on the accessibility of cooperative living.

Cooperative living ensures that people can pay affordable and fair rent-prices, have joint responsibility and creates social cohesion in the neighborhood.

Unfortunately, financing of cooperations has proven to be difficult, therefore we develop
‘de Samenlening’: a business loan with an increased Loan-to-Value of 80-90% and a duration of 40 years, so that the monthly costs become lower.

Together with our pilot partners (Gemeente Utrecht and Stichting !WOON) we want to professionalize the entire proces of founding the cooperation to the realization (where to build, what to build and how to finance), to make cooperations widely available.
